Baby I Got Issues, But I Love Myself

With Valentine’s Day coming up, I know a lot of people struggle or have issues with being alone, not having anyone on that day. But you do have someone, someone who is always going to be there, no matter what. And it’s time you start loving that person.

I’ve been listening to a song for a couple weeks now called Talk by Salvatore Ganacci. There’s a line in there that really resonates with me.

"Baby I got issues, but I love myself" I feel this line deep in my bones. At the time of writing this, I will be 33 years old, and I am just now starting to love myself. It can be so hard to love yourselves, with everything that we go through. We pour so much into other people, that we forget to pour into ourselves. I’m the type of person that will go to the ends of the earth for my friends, but freak out and feel guilty if I try to do something for myself. That’s so unbalanced and so bad.

During last year (2020) I decided to change that mindset. I really focused on loving myself and practicing self-care. Am I fully in the place where I completely love myself? NO. There are still some things that I don’t like, but that’s ok. I’m learning to fully love myself and I know that I’m worthy of loving myself, and so are you.

No matter what you’re going through, know that you are worthy of love. And the best place to start is loving yourself. Because at the end of the day, you will always have yourself, everyone can leave, but you can’t leave yourself…(did that make sense? Just go with it lol!)

For some, this holiday can be depressing. And that is completely understandable, but don’t fall into that depressive hole and not come back out. Yourself wouldn’t want that, yourself wants you to know that you are loved, no matter what.

We all have issues, and that’s ok. But always, love yourself through your issues.
